                       Ravanel takes his Position:

«I was a quick-learner back then, that I knew how to do.»

June 12th 1943, Ravanel was «on a new path without knowing if he had the strength to follow it, or even the ability to control what would happen to him.» He thought his «lack of experience» would keep him from realizing «his full potential». «Pierre's» sudden departure was another shock, but «everything was sheer luck in those days. »...Yet again, Ravanel had to find a way to adapt «in order to do what his job required» (1). «I was a quick-learner back then, that I knew how to do», he admitted years later. While his inexperience made him reluctant to start his new job, it also helped him to «maintain my sense of self and ethics» (2) which, in his line of work, was important because any kind of mistake could lead to «serious consequences» (3).

It was imperative in the reorganizing of the MUR (United Movements of the Resistance) that the leading team have a member from each of the original three groups (Combat, Libération, Franc-Tireur). Marcel Degliame, head of the Action sector of MUR, helped Ravanel in the first steps for gathering this team. He put Ravanel in contact with two new members: Raymond Deleule, from Franc-Tireur, and Marcel Joyeux (alias «Joly»), from Combat (brought in by Jean-Guy Bernard). Each of these three young men was assigned two regions of six, creating a zone. Deleule was in charge of Marseille and Montpellier; Joyeux, Toulouse and Limoges; and lastly, Ravanel with Lyon and Clermont-Ferrand. Each man leading «in the service of their country».
